Joanna Stroup married Silas H. Philips in September 1840 as evidenced by a Lincoln County Marriage Bond, dated 14 Sep 1840, Daniel Hoover as Surety.   Marriage was publicly announced in The Yorkville (present day "York"), South Carolina Compiler: 

“Married on Tuesday evening last by M. W. Abernathy, Mr. Silas H. Phillips of Union County, S.C. and Miss Joan[na] Stroup of Lincoln County, N.C.”  

Silas H. & Isaiah W. Phillips (who married Joanna's sister Rosanna Stroup) were sons of John & Rebecca Phillips.                        

In 1848 both Phillips families moved with (or were followed by) Joanna's brother Philip Stroup, Jr., Ephraim & Nancy (Queen) Stroup to Benton County Mississippi.

Joanna & her husband were schoolteachers in Benton County, Mississippi, where they died.  Buried Pisgah Methodist Church Cemetery.
