ORIGIN George
Stroup was born c1764 - 1774, the 2nd s/o of Jacob Stroup, Sr. by his 3rd wife
Nancy Rhyne.
His father reputedly had 22 children by three wives, but by the time
George was born most of his older half brother and sister grown, married and
living on adjoining farms. He was raised in a very large family on what had been a farm
of about 1,000 acres, but its size diminished as Jacob let each of his married
sons farm various tracts. George’s
maiden Aunt Elizabeth still lives in the family home on Upper Hoyle’s Creek. MARRIAGE George Stroup reputedly married twice, the first time perhaps by Publication of the Banns in a Lutheran Church because no Marriage Bond has been found. His wives may have been sisters.
1st wife believed to be ---
Eddleman.
2nd wife Elizabeth Eddleman, Lincoln Marriage Bond 20 May
1793, Surety Boston (Sebastian) Eddleman, the bride’s brother. RESIDENCE George
Stroup’s farm was on Chris Springflour’s (or Chris Spring's Flour Branch) of
Upper Hoyle's Creek, same location as his fathers land purchase c1772. 1800 CENSUS
